I know how busy everyone is, and that this is a touchy and personal and sensitive subject... and frankly a touch, personal, sensitive time in our lives as a church. I just wanted to encourage everyone to feel free and confident to speak thier mind and share who they are and where they are at. There is no condemnation in Christ Jesus. I even ended a sentance with a preposition... and I know there will be no condemnation, because this is a convo between friends. (that is that joke part... trying to lighten the mood.) I hope this forum gives you the freedom to be part of the discussion pertaining to our future. I truly desire not to see my own rantings, but to hear each of your hearts. That's right... you, there on the left. I see your name.
Love you
Kel

Testing, 123. I just wrote a long message that apparently got erased, and I am going to check this before I try to re-write it.
Okay, I think I've got the hang of it now. Look at me go! I'm blogging!!! I too would love to hear more from folks. In all fairness, I will admit I have started a few posts, and then deleted them- it's easy to be self-conscious, but in doing so I completely missed the point of this, so from now on, I'm just going... to.... hit..... send!!!!
Beautiful. I'm on board, Rob.
Rob, I love the inspiring passion in your "voice" (and not just because I'm your wife), and I would like to hear more of your (and others') thoughts. Do you have concrete ideas of how we can reach people in bold ways, how to bring them the good news of Christ? Maybe we could use this as an opportunity to brainstorm elements of church and community that would help us to achieve this. Habitat for Humanity is one huge outlet for service- I know we will dive into that even more in the coming year, but what else? I have looked into volunteering at a few different places, and have not been met with eager welcome- but I still have hope. Where can we truly serve? Where would we do the most to glorify God outside of the church service? The art shows are a unique way to get to know new people in a non-threatening way. I think the band could be a great community outreach- but what else? Of course it is a priority to connnect with people who don't identify with art as well. I wonder what we can do in this community (and beyond) to serve and welcome people- to follow God boldly. I'm with you Rob. Something else I've been thinking about: I realize an important aspect of our community is to spend time together outside of the chuch hour-to truly be a part of each others' lives. I would love it if for part of this time together, rather than sitting around relaxing (and often eating delicious food), we could be geared more toward serving others. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with just enjoying the company of friends sometimes, but it seems to me, we can easily just hang out, but our time together would be more meaningful if it were sometimes spent supporting each other in reaching out to people even outside of our little community... thoughts? I feel a real momentum- I'm excited.
